In the heart of the city of Angers, city of art and history, stands the castle of Angers. Built in the 13th century, the fortress, with its 17 towers of schist and tuffeau, houses the famous Tenture of the Apocalypse.

Built in the 13th century, the fortress features 17 towers of schist and limestone and overlooks the Maine which serves as its natural defense. Residence of the Dukes of Anjou in the 14th and 15th centuries, it was decorated with buildings and gardens, where a menagerie took place in the time of King René. The castle houses the Apocalypse tapestry, commissioned by Louis I of Anjou at the end of the 14th century, which by its dimensions, age and plastic qualities is undoubtedly one of the major works of medieval art.
